Scottish Sundays and time to go!

So today there was more Scottish dancing - the sword dance, the reel, etc and more time at the beach and more dancing and more beach and then pool time. Lori, Erika, Joella and I headed out to the dancing early leaving the boys back at the hotel as Timothy had been ill during the night. Erika was all kitted out in her Scottish dancing costume with kilt and those fancy black lace up shoes and white broderie anglais blouse and black velvet vest and looking fab. We set up camp under a tree again - it was already 30C at 9am and not a breath of a breeze. [Whose bright idea was it to hold Scottish dancing with those heavy winter weight costumes in Hawaii - I am surprised none of the dancers fainted!]. Fraser and the boys joined us mid-morning -and then Nick and Tim & i went to the beach and were later joined by Fraser - for a bit of snorkelling and sandcastling and swimming. Fraser & Tim & I were building a great castle when Nick arrived with a rock and introduced a meteor storm ... and the wondered why I chased him into the water!

Then it was back to the park for more Scottish dancing. I filmed all of Erika's dances today - the new little camera is very swish and takes a great 'film'. And I discovered today that the dances Erika did in competition yesterday she only learnt last week. Talk about impressive! Yay god-daughter! After the dancing was done the others went back to the hotel and Erika and I had beach time - which involved another sandcastle - this time with a double moat and no meteor shower. Then back to the hotel for a swim in the pool . Lori. Erika, Nick and I had dinner at Chili's - which is apparently a chain restaurant  - and left Fraser with Tim & Joella. Chilis does a very drinkable margarita (which doesn't come with a side of ketchup). There has been more talking and sitting around in the hotel room and swapping stories, and filling Nick's travel journal with Australian phrases that he has to translate and checking out their iPod song lists - which are suprisingly diverse.

Tomorrow we are off to breakfast at Duke's on the beach and then I head to the airport and they are off to the North Shore for surfing lessons for Nick's birthday. I don't want to go. It's been so much fun and so cool getting to spend time with them all - and getting to know the kids individually - and to see Fraser and Lori again. There are plans afoot for a Hawaii Redux - Maui July 2014 for Erika's 13th. Which probably means a LA Adventure in 2019 for Tim's and Tahiti maybe for Joella's 13th in 2022....
