Catching up with the Canadians

Had a couple of very busy days with Shelley & Craig - who arrived in town on Monday evening. I had spent the day at a tap class - really loving Linda Schwab's classses - and then at the Guggenheim - which was totally open this time around! And did you know you can get a Lego version of the Guggenheim!!!!!

We went to dinner at a swanky restaurant called Nobu - and then went back to Times Square (where they were staying for a nightcap and more talking). On TUesday we hit the town to do some serious touristing including a tour of downtown - Wall St, Ground Zero etc and eating the world's largest vegetarian pizza - & then across to Brooklyn. Later that evening we hit the theatres and saw La Cage Aux Folles (which was not as good as I was expecting but still a lot of fun) and then late night dinner in a little French restaurant. Yesterday we met up at Central Park and then explored Harlem before having lunch at the Turmp Grille in Trump Tower (all marble and gold) before waving them goodbye and back to Canada.

In the afternoon I headed up to the Museum of the City of New York - which had a great exhibition on the Apollo Theatre including some very short footage of Honi Coles and Chully Atkins tap dancing there during the 1940s (?).  The museum also had an amazing dollhouse with genuine miniature original paintings by some fo the mid century modernists! Quite amazing.

Meant to be plenty of sunshine today - the last few days have been cold and rainy - definitely hats & gloves & scarves and coats weather. Hopefully warmer today - so I'm heading out to explore in the susnshine!
